April 20, 2020

i almost forgot i knew you—
it had been that long;
days and weeks and months
and years
without so much
as a peep;
making me wonder
do we even really know each other
or is right now convenient;
have you been busy—
have i been caught slowing down
when you’ve been caught
advancing;
no
no i don’t believe it,
the same way i don’t believe
that i was on your mind
or
that you were thinking
of giving a call
or reaching out;
see
if i hadn’t seen you
you wouldn’t have
seen me
visibly or mentally—
no dots to connect
no jogging of your brain
to embarrass yourself
to realize how long its been;
how long its been since
i became an ant
and you became a termite
since i became
a dead plant
a nice picture
for you to feed off;
your words
are like dead seeds
there is nothing there
for sowing—
no sun or water
no dialogue
no substance there
for growing;
so
let me cut you off
before you stroke your ego—
i’m not sure its worth it
for us to remember
again
